WHITE PAPERESG Lab Report: Data Domain ReplicationFor users of disk-based backup appliances, the ability to replicate, or mirror, data between two backup to disk systems (one onsite, one offsite) provides an added layer of data protection in the event of a disaster. This type of process is commonly referred to as one-to-one replication. However, in more advanced scenarios, replication support can be expanded to include many-to-one and bi-directional configurations, which provide greater flexibility. This ESG Lab Report validates that Data Domain data replication options are easy to integrate into existing LAN/WAN infrastructures and provide the following benefits:
“By combining de-duplication and data compression into one package, Data Domain can significantly reduce backup expenditures by reducing the amount of storage capacity and bandwidth that is ultimately required during the backup and DR process. Inline de-duplication, compression, cross-site deduplication and bandwidth reduction are compelling, valuable and fundamental capabilities of the Data Domain offering.” |
